This weekend!

After years of efforts by Mary Radspinnner and others, there will finally be a Scottish harp presence at the Illinois St. Andrew Society Games, held in Oak Brook IL, a western suburb of Chicago. And we even have our own tent!

The Games take place this Saturday, June 21, at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds. Here is a link to the Illinois St. Andrew Society's Web site: http://www.chicago-scots.org/

Cindy Shelhart will be teaching a multi-level Scottish harp workshop from 10 AM - 12 noon. After a break for midday events on the field, here is the schedule for the afternoon:

1:30 - 2:15 Concert set by Cindy Shelhart
2:15 - 2:30 Break
2:30 - 3:00 Scottish Harp for Bairns (kids' intro session with Lynne Ostfeld)
3:00 - 3:30 So You Always Wanted to Play Scottish Harp (adult intro session with Cindy Shelhart)
3:30 - 4:00 Final concert set by Cindy Shelhart

The workshop is free; you will just need to pay your own parking and gate fee (see the ISAS website for details). The gate opens Saturday at 8:00 AM.

If you are interested in attending, an RSVP to Cindy would be appreciated; also, harpers and their harps are needed to assist with the intro sessions. Please contact Cindy at harp@cynthiashelhart.com, or call (219) 508-3558, if you can attend and/or need more information.

The Society hopes to promote interest in Scottish harping in the Chicago area, so that they can possibly offer lessons and workshops connected with ISAS and the Scottish Home, and maybe even a first SHSA competition next year! If you can come and lend your support, please let Cindy know!
